Your voice matters

To ensure we are providing the information you need to deliver better care to your patients, we would love to hear from you. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or recommendations on topics that we can include in future issues.

Thank you,

Your Summit Health Team

Promoting Preventive Care

We know how important it is to stay up-to-date with preventive care to stay healthy. This is why we cover both the Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) and an annual physical exam at no cost to your Summit Health patients. They are both covered once every calendar year, which means you and your patients do not need to wait 11 months to schedule their next preventive visit.

An AWV and physical exam can be completed at the same visit and can also be combined with a problem visit. However, a cost-share would apply if combined with a problem visit. Please be sure to code services accurately for your reimbursement and quality incentive earnings. Refer to our Summit Health Guide to Preventive Visits to see details about coding, talking points for scheduling, and other helpful tips.

There is still time to complete these preventive visits this year to count towards your incentive earnings for the 2023 measurement year!

Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines

The CDC recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older get a flu shot each flu season and the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine this year to protect against serious illness. The flu vaccine can prevent potentially serious complications, and the updated COVID-19 vaccines will protect against the most common variants that are circulating now. Both are covered at no cost for Medicare members.

We ask that you encourage your patients to get their flu and COVID—19 vaccines this season.
