Annual Conference in Chronic Pain Management and CME

The Foundation for Medical Excellence (TFME) in partnership with The College of Physician and Surgeons of British Columbia has opened registration for the 36th Annual Conference in Chronic Pain Management.

This conference is designed to assist clinicians in successfully managing patients with chronic pain, anxiety, and substance use and is accredited for Category 1 CME. The CME and program is designed to allow US physicians to satisfy the DEA requirement for training in safer opioid and sedative prescribing as well.

The objectives of the course are to build:

  • Knowledge regarding the effective treatment of chronic, non-cancer pain and anxiety disorders
  • Tools for assessing risk in prescribing psychoactive medications
  • Interview skills for this challenging group of patients
  • Awareness of personal factors that affect effectiveness and impact practitioner wellbeing

Who should attend:

  • Clinicians, administrators, and regulators interested in the management of chronic pain
  • Because clinical practice is best implemented within a system, some groups attend as clinical teams: physician, nurse practitioner, administrator, pharmacist, etc.

For more information on the program and registration details, visit the TFME conference page.

July is Healthy Vision Month

The National Eye Institute is bringing awareness to the importance of healthy vision. As people age, there is an increased risk for eye diseases and conditions. Early detection and treatment can help to protect vision as well as prevent vision loss.

Recommend that your patients get an annual comprehensive dilated eye exam to protect their vision by catching eye diseases and conditions early, when they’re easier to treat.

Your Summit Health patients have vision benefits through their VSP Advantage Elements plan that includes:

  • A routine vision exam every calendar year
  • Routine vision hardware once every two calendar years

We need your support to help our members know how they can protect their vision and protect against vision loss.
