What our plan name means

To help you better understand our plans, let us explain a little about what our plan names mean.

HMO = Health maintenance organization

With an HMO plan, you choose a primary care provider who works with us. This may be a doctor that you already see. They coordinate all your care and can refer you to other local doctors and specialists. Our HMO plans aren’t covered outside of your network. So, when you are traveling outside of the coverage area, we only cover emergency or urgent care in most cases.

POS = Point of service

With an HMO-POS plan, you can see doctors outside your network in some cases, at a higher cost share. So, if you travel outside of the coverage area, but within the U.S., you can get routine healthcare along with emergency and urgent care coverage.
